S.Res. 627 — A resolution designating March 5, 2026, as "National Slam the Scam Day" to raise awareness about pervasive scams and to prevent government imposter scams and other types of scams by promoting education about such scams.

This section designates March 5, 2026, as “National Slam the Scam Day” to raise awareness of government imposter scams (i.e., scams involving individuals impersonating government employees by mail, telephone, text message, email, social media, or internet websites). It (1) recognizes the roles of law enforcement agencies, consumer protection groups, telephone companies, area agencies on aging, and financial institutions in preventing and educating about such scams; (2) encourages policies, programs, and measures to prevent them and protect the public; (3) urges the public to ignore suspicious solicitations, share information with family and friends, and report scams to agencies such as the Office of the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, or the Federal Trade Commission; and (4) honors individuals and organizations combating these scams.
