This section expresses the sense of the Senate that (1) it extends sincere congratulations and best wishes to the people of Greece on the 205th anniversary of Greek independence; (2) it supports the principles of democratic governance to which the people of Greece are committed; (3) it commends the Greek-American community for its contributions to the United States and its role as a bridge between the two countries; (4) Greece has played an important role in the wider European region and the community of nations since gaining independence 205 years ago; (5) the bilateral relationship between the United States and Greece—based on shared values and interests, including energy and security partnerships that bolster European energy security—is ever stronger; and (6) Greece is a valued NATO ally with a critical role in ensuring regional stability.
