This section expresses the sense of the Senate in support of the goals and ideals of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day. Such goals include (1) raising awareness of risk factors, signs, symptoms, and treatment options for maternal mental health conditions among pregnant and postpartum women, their families, providers, and the public; (2) honoring mothers and acknowledging challenges posed by such conditions; (3) recognizing maternal mental health disorders and maternal suicide as serious public health problems; and (4) encouraging research on safe and effective treatments, dissemination of evidence-based treatment data, and provider training.
