H.R. 1512 — Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act

This section increases Department of State reporting requirements regarding U.S. guidance on relations with Taiwan (i.e., the periodic memorandum entitled “Guidelines on Relations with Taiwan” and related documents) by (1) expanding the scope of the report under subsection (c)(1) to include any successor document or related document that includes such guidance; and (2) requiring the Secretary of State, for as long as such guidance is maintained, to review and reissue it not less than every five years and, not later than 90 days after completing each review, submit an updated report to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. The updated reports must include all information required in the original report under subsection (c) and a description of how the updated guidance meets the goals and objectives specified in subsection (b).
