H.R. 8552 — Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026

This section directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to increase, effective December 1, 2026, rates of (1) wartime disability compensation, (2) additional compensation for dependents, (3) clothing allowance, (4) dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses, and (5) dependency and indemnity compensation for children by the same percentage as the increase in Social Security benefits effective that date under 42 U.S.C. 415(i). The section further authorizes administrative adjustment of disability compensation rates under section 10 of Public Law 85-857 consistent with these increases.

This section directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to publish in the Federal Register the amounts specified in section 2(b), as increased under that section, no later than the date on which the Social Security Administration is required to publish its cost-of-living adjustment determination under section 215(i)(2)(D) of the Social Security Act during FY2027.
